PERRIGRINE G. SESSIONS TO JOHN W. SESSIONS, SAN FRANCISCO, CAL.

CITY BOUNTIFUL, UTAH TERRITORY,
May 15, 1859.

My grandfather, David Sessions, with two brothers, Samuel and Darius, all three enlisted in the Revolutionary War. Darius was killed in battle; the other two served until peace was declared. Samuel, when last heard from, was in the State of New York; I have no further record of him.

David, my grandfather, was born in Boxford, Mass.; married Rachel Stevens, who was born in Manchester, Mass.; thence removed to Stratford, Orange county, Vt., where they raised six children—Polly, Sally, David, Rachel, William and Asa; thence removed to Newry, Oxford county, Maine, where he obtained a pension, and lived an honorable life, independent of all religious creeds.

Rachel died October 1, 1823. David died September 23, 1824. Polly, the eldest, married Joshua Alexander, and they live in Vershire, Orange county, Vt., and have a large family; religion, Presbyterian. Sally married Josiah Flanders, and settled in Orford, New Hampshire. Rachel married Samuel Barker, and they live in Rumford, Oxford county, Maine; have a large family; religion, Presbyterian. William married Susan Blodget, and lives in Milan, Coos county, N. H.; religion, Free Will Baptist. Asa married Lydia Littlehale, and lives in Rumford, Oxford county, Maine; no religion, although in good circumstances pecuniarily, as are all the rest of the family.

David, my father, born at Farby, Orange county, Vt., April 4, 1790; married Patty Bartlett (who was born February 4, 1795, in Bethel); January 28, 1812, settled in the town of Newry, Oxford county, Maine; had eight children: Perregrine (should be P. G. S.) born June 15, 1814; married Julia Ann Kilgore (who was born in Newry, Maine, July 24, 1815) Sept. 21, 1834, and had two children, Martha Ann, born September 22, ____, and Carlos L., born July 17, 1842. Julia Ann died January 25, 1845, and Perrigrine married again, to Lucina Call, of Nauvoo, Ill., January 28, 1846. (Lucina C. was born in Lake county, Ohio, September 29, 1819.) Sylvanus, born at Newry, Maine, June 5, 1816; died September 15, 1832. Sylvia, born July 31, 1818; married to Winsor P. Lyon. Anna, born March 21, 1820; died September 20, 1823. David, born May 9, 1823; married Phebe Foss (who was born at Saco, Maine, November 2, 1832) at Salt Lake City, U. T., December 30, 1852. Anna B. was born March 16, 1825, and died August 10, 1832. Bartlett was born August 1, 1827, and died February 15, 1828. Amanda, born at Far West, Missouri; date of birth and death not known.

I have quite a journal of my own life and experience, in traveling through England and America, as a Mormon Elder. There are three of the name of Sessions who live in Provo, U. T.; one, I think, is Richard.
